James Pierce and his teammates will compete for bronze at the 2008 World Wheelchair Curling Championship. If they win, it would be the first U.S. medal at a World Championships.

Augusto Perez (East Syracuse, N.Y.) and teammates James Pierce (North Syracuse, N.Y.), James Joseph (New Hartford, N.Y) and Jacqueline Kapinowski (Point Pleasant, N.J.) will play the loser of the semifinal match between Canada and Norway in Saturday morning's bronze medal game. The Americans are on a quest to bring home the first medal for the U.S. at this event.

Norway's Rune Lorensten team, the defending world champions, got the better of the U.S. this morning in the Page System 3-4 game with a pivotal three points in the second end that the Americans didn't recover from.

"We're not too disappointed," said Perez. "You have only three guys who finished ahead of you, and we're still shooting for a medal."

Koreaadvanced to the championship final after defeating Canada, 7-2, in the Page System 1-2 game. Canada will now face Norway in the semifinal with the winner advancing to the final.
