Four U.S. Athletes to Compete at 2006 IPC Powerlifting World Championships

Two-time Paralympian Mary Stack (Ann Arbor, Mich./82.5+ kg) will headline a group of four U.S. athletes competing at the 2006 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Powerlifting World Championships, May 1-12 in Busan, Korea.

Rohan Murphy (University Park, Pa.), Anderson Wise (Needham, Mass.) and Kortney Clemons (University Park, Pa.) will compete in the men's 56.0, 67.5 and 75.0kg classes, respectively.

Approximately 300 athletes from 53 countries will participate in the competitions open to athletes with cerebral palsy, spinal injuries, amputees and les autres who meet the minimal disability criteria.

In line with the championships, a Powerlifting Sports Assembly will take place on 6 May at the Paradise Hotel in Busan. Main topics include the National Classification System development, strategic planning and future direction of the sport, as well as discussions about the strategy for the development and training of Regional Technical Delegates.
