Steve Brown will be the head coach for the 2006 U.S. Paralympics Wheelchair Curling Team.

The top eight nations from the past three World Wheelchair Curling Championships will make up the field at the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy. In addition to the U.S., the competitors will represent Scotland, Switzerland, Denmark, Canada, Sweden, Italy and Norway.

Scotland has won the World Championship each year since the event’s inception in 2002. In fact, the team has yet to lose a game at the World Championships and enters the Paralympic Games as the heavy favorite.

The five members of the 2006 U.S. Paralympics Wheelchair Curling Team are 2004 wheelchair national champions Jim Joseph (New Hartford, N.Y.) and Jim Pierce (North Syracuse, N.Y.); 2002 and 2003 wheelchair national champions Wes Smith (Glenburn, Maine) and Danell Libby (Chatham, N.Y.); and Augusto Perez (North Syracuse, N.Y.).

The team will be coached by USA Curling Hall of Famer Steve Brown (Madison, Wis.).
