Paralympian Webster a semifinalist for Cosmopolitan's Fun Fearless Female contest

Lora Webster (Cave Creek, Ariz.), a member of the bronze medal-winning 2004 U.S. Paralympics Women's Sitting Volleyball Team, is one of 10 semifinalists in Cosmopolitan's Fun Fearless Female contest.

Webster lost her left leg to bone cancer when she was 11, but the loss of a limb didn't prevent her from getting out on the court and playing the game she loved. Now at 19, she's one of the best sitting volleyball players in the country and working to make her team the best in the world.

"I'm training hard for the 2006 World Championships in the Netherlands and the 2008 Paralympic Summer Games in Beijing," Webster told Cosmopolitan. "I hope that being named a semifinalist in this contest will bring much-needed recognition to my sport."

The contest will award $10,000 to the winner, in addition receiving a year's worth of Maybelline New York and Garnier products and a trip to New York City, as well as being the subject of a feature in the February 2006 edition of the magazine.
