U.S. National Sled Hockey Team Concludes Exhibition Series with Canada

The 2007-08 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team earned its first victory of the season over Canada in the opening game of a three-game exhibition series, Feb. 21-23 at the CN Centre and Kin 1 Arena. In the second game, Team USA was edged by Canada, 3-2, and in the final match-up, Canada posted a 5-0 victory. The series, which was the second of the season between the two teams, was the last international tune-up before the 2008 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships.

Boston Bruins alumni will participate in a 30-minute ice sledge hockey match Friday at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Mass. The game will give fans a glimpse at sled hockey, a sport that will inhabit the same venue next month when the 2008 IPC World Championships come to town. The game featuring Bruins alumni will serve as an exciting component of the first-ever 24-Hour Hockey Game, in which one 30-minute game in each of the nation's 50 states will be played consecutively.

Alexi Salamone (Park City, Utah) scored 2:12 into overtime to lift the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team to a 3-2 victory over host Japan here tonight at the Daisetsu Arena to secure a third-place finish at the 2008 Japan Paralympic Ice Sledge Hockey International Match. Team USA finished the tournament with a 2-1-1 (W-L-OTL) record. Japan was first to crack the scoreboard, taking a 1-0 lead just 1:08 into the game on a Daisuke Uehara goal. With two second-period goals, Team USA took a 2-1 lead.
