Bill Schuffenhauer
- 2002 Olympics four-man silver medalist with driver Todd Hays
- Won the 4-man event at 2002 U.S. Olympic Trials (driver Todd Hays)
- Finished 4th in 4-man and 5th in 2-man bobsled at U.S. National Team Trials in October 2001
- Former ranked decathlon athlete (6th at 1997 U.S. Nationals)
- His athletic career goal was to make the Olympics, whether in track and field, bobsleigh or any other sport. The switch to bobsledding paid off when Schuffenhauer earned a spot on the U.S. team for 2002
- Schuffenhauer is relatively new to the sport since he got his start in the fall of 2000. Like many other track and field athletes, he has tapped his inherent athletic skills to make great progress as a pusher
- At one point Schuffenhauer was the top-ranked junior in the world for decathlon. He even was favored to win the event at the 1991 Junior World Championships, but he missed the pole vault and could not recover the points
- Works as a personal trainer
- Competed in track and field in both high school and college, earning All-American status in decathlon. He also played football in high school
- Some of his favorites: favorite food is seafood and steak…favorite TV show is Star Trek…favorite movies are horror movies
- In his spare time, Schuffenhauer enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, hunting and camping
Schuffenhauer grew up in a tough street environment as both of his parents battled alcohol and drug addiction. He takes great pride in "where I started and where I am now headed."
