- Began swimming when she was four. "My mom wouldn't let me start until I could swim a lap by myself," she told the Arizona Daily Star.
Myers keeps herself busy through an array of different activities. In addition to teaching science classes, she was the co-vice chair of the PAC-10's student advisory board. "I don't think I have the vocabulary to describe her," Becky Bell, the director of the University of Arizona's athletic-life skills program told the Arizona Daily Star. "She has impeccable character. She's a friendly leader, humble, happy and an honor student. And did you know she (was) a finalist to be homecoming queen?"
"I just wanted to go...to just race, and that’s exactly what I did," Myers said of her 200 IM perfomance at NCAAs. "Coach (Frank Busch) told me to really go after it in the breaststroke because that is my weakest stroke. I just poured my heart and soul into it. It’s amazing and a dream come true.”
