When Gangloff was 12 or 13, legendary breaststroker Mike Barrowman, the 1992 Olympic gold medalist in the 200m breast, visited his club team to give a clinic. “He said to all of us that ‘one of you will be an Olympian,’” Gangloff says (on Auburn’s web site). “That speech sort of lit the fire for me to believe that it was possible to do it.” After taking home a gold medal and missing an individual medal by 0.27 seconds, Gangloff definitely has made Barrowman's predicition come true.
