Terin Humphrey
- 2004 Olympic double silver medalist (uneven bars, team)
- 2004 U.S. Championships, all-around bronze medalist
- 2004 American Cup triple bronze medalist (vault, uneven bars, floor exercise)
- 2003 World Gymnastics Championships, first team
- Was an alternate on the 2003 World Championships team, but competed after injuries and illness claimed two team members. Terin’s high scores helped the U.S. win the team gold
- Known for her graceful, balletic dance moves on floor and beam but her favorite event is bars
- Coached by Al Fong and Armine Barutyan-Fong, a former Soviet National team member from Armenia
- Trains at the Great American Gymnastics Express (GAGE) and has been a national team member for five years
- At age nine, after her first gymnastics lesson, Terin’s coaches told her parents she had Olympic potential
- Competed in barrel racing on her horse before becoming a full-time gymnast
- Has one older brother, Shannon, a U.S. marine
- Attends the University of Alabama; was a straight ‘A’ student in high school
- Terin is a small town girl. Her hometown, Bates City, has a population of just 244. She attended grade school in Albany, Mo., a town of just fewer than 2,000
- Favorite singer is Garth Brooks…gymnast is Svetlana Khorkina…color is yellow…ice cream is mint chocolate chip
Humphrey started training at the GAGE when she was nine years old. To help defer the costs of training her family has made many sacrifices. Humphrey’s parents help pay for some of her training by cleaning up the GAGE gym. Her dad, who is also a banker, has been building houses on nights and weekends. Her mom has been working at a nursery.

On the Olympic experience: “I don't even know where to start. It was just incredible, from meeting athletes from all over the world to winning two medals. I really thought we had a good shot at winning a team medal but I didn't think I would have the chance to win a silver medal. That was just incredible.”
