It's Every Day

Before his knee injuries, Gatson was recognized as one of the world’s most  powerful vaulters and tumblers. While nursing his knee injuries, he worked to develop his upper body strength and now is stronger on the other four events, especially parallel bars.

His mother Debbie, a former gymnast says, “every day you pinch yourself and realize this is real, this is really happening….I am so proud of him…I’m just totally amazed what he has been able to do…when he was 5 ½ or six, his coaches were telling us that he had the talent to go to the Olympics…I thought it was awfully young for people to be staying that, but he loved going to the gym every day and we were just glad that he was so happy.”

Quote

“I’m thrilled,” said Gatson on the evening he qualified for the 2004 Olympic team. “ It’s the most exciting day of my life.  I don’t think it’s really sunk in. Just knowing I’m going to go to the Olympics in Athens is amazing.”
