Tara Lipinski
- 1998 U.S. Olympian, ladies’ figure skating gold medalist at age 15 (youngest gold medalist in Olympic Winter Games history)
- Youngest ladies’ world champion in history at age 14 (1997)
- Won three consecutive medals at the U.S. Championships (1996,1997 and 1998), winning the title in 1997 (youngest skater to do so in U.S. history)
- Two-time winner of the Champions Series (Grand Prix) of Figure Skating final (1997, 1998)
- Began skating on wheels before ice and won a regional roller skating title in New Jersey at age 5. Took to the ice at age 6 and six years later became the youngest athlete to win a medal at the now-defunct U.S. Olympic Festival, when she captured gold
- First woman to land a triple loop-triple loop combination in competition at the 1997 U.S. Championships
- Youngest skater ever to win the Ladies' World Professional Championship gold medal
- Announced her intention to retire from competitive skating during an April 7, 1998, appearance on NBC's Today show
- Numerous acting appearances since winning the Olympic gold, including a recurring role on TV's "Young and the Restless" soap opera and "Touched by an Angel" series. She had a feature role in the TV movie "Ice Angel."
- Won $32,000 on a celebrity Wheel of Fortune TV special - competing against Alex Trebek and Richard Simmons. Tara donated her winnings to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Lipinski's other charitable causes include Target's Teachers Make a Difference.
- Voted "Best Female Athlete" at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in 1999 and 2000; won "Best Female Athlete" award at the inaugural Fox Teen Choice Awards in August 1999

On the months leading up to the Olympic Winter Games: "I know it is a hard road and those are long and cold months, but it would have been worth it no matter what just because I love skating so much. Even if I did not win, I loved what I was doing, and I loved achieving my goal." Tara Lipinski Today Lipinski, now 19, continues to skate in professional competitions and tours with Target's Stars On Ice. Tara hopes to continue to expand her acting opportunities in the next few years. "I got into the acting more this year, and decided to go for it no matter what," she says. "It's nice not to just have skating roles, so people see I can act."
"The Olympics are different than any other title. You don't pass it on. It's like you join a club. I look at Kristi (Yamaguchi) and Katarina (Witt), and it's like I'm part of something special with them."
