- 2004 Olympic silver medalist in the 400m medley relay (prelims)
- 2004 Short Course World champion in the 50m and 100m backstroke, silver medalist in the 400m medley relay
- 2002 Short Course World champion in the 100m backstroke; silver medalist in 50m backstroke and 400m medley relay
- 2001 World Championship and Goodwill Games gold medalist in the 50m backstroke
- On winning her world title in 2001: "I thought I was really dying," Cope said. "I was just trying to keep up with the girl next to me. I can't believe I'm the world champion."

- Won four U.S. National titles, three in 100m backstroke and one in 50m freestyle

Cope used to drive two-and-a-half hours back home to Chico on the weekends in her 1988 VW Gulf "with close to 400,000 miles on it,” she said. “It's comical," she said of the car, which her father gave her in college. "When your friends insist on coming to pick you up because they don't want you to drive your car, you know it's bad. I'm starting to know a lot about cars, to know what part to hit to make it go!"
On women in sports: "Sports have brought me everything in life, including my husband! School, friends, wrinkly toes and excessive numbers of beach towels."
