- U.S. Curling Association 2003 Athlete of the Year and Team of the Year
- She and her family are Canadians by birth. As a child, her family moved to Madison, Wis., when her father was transferred for his job. “I remember sitting on the curling stones and pushing each other around on the ice,” McCormick said.
- Debbie's father, Wally, won bronze medals in the 1986 and 1991 World Curling Championships and she considers him to be her hero
- Pete Silver proposed to her at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan and they were married the following year
- Says the "The Price Is Right" is her favorite TV program. "I have always wanted to go to ‘The Price Is Right’ - I just know I would be picked from the crowd, and I would win a red Volkswagen convertible,” McCormick said.
- Enjoys scrapbooking, kayaking and spending time with her husband and their dogs Nala and Ellie
McCormick prepares for games by taking some of the pressure off in unique ways. "Often times before or after a game my team and I will play Chicken foot - we make the loser carry the broom bag or run around train stations," McCormick said.

On what she would like the world to know about curling: "That curling is a very physically and mentally challenging sport; it requires total team effort to be successful. I with that everyone could have a chance to play this sport. I think they would be surprised to find out how challenging it really is."
