WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Olympic medalists, world champions and many of the nation’s top rowers will converge on Mercer Lake this week to compete at the 2007 USRowing National Championship Regatta.
The 136th running of the event, which will take place Thursday through Saturday, will feature many athletes who are in training for the 2007 World Championships in Munich, Germany, and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. The field includes 11 Olympic medalists, more than 30 world championships medalists and more than 75 athletes with U.S. National Team experience. In addition to the top U.S. athletes scheduled to compete, crews from Canada and Australia will be making the trip to West Windsor.
The event will feature races in the world championship boat classes, as well as the adaptive world championship boat classes. Racing begins Thursday at 8 a.m. with time trials in five events. Heats start Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. On Friday, the remaining heats and repechages, or second-chance races, will take place starting at 9:30 a.m. Finals will take place on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
